News ~ January 2020

Happy New Year, everyone! I have to admit, I’m super excited for this year. Major life milestones are set to happen, including my impending nuptials and potentially starting a family with my brand new husband. So while I hope to continue working, I have to be honest and say I may be otherwise distracted, so my productivity levels may drop.

That being said, the first half of the year is full-up on new and re-releases, including the Lexie Carrigan Box Set (currently on sale for $0.99 until release day), The Queen of Veils (the last book in the Princess Vigilante series), and a re-release of Empath, containing some new essays on life five years later. I’m honestly really excited about the Empath one, especially as aforementioned nups are gonna be about 2 weeks before. I’m hoping to have a bunch of stuff pre-planned, as I’ll be exploring New Zealand with my shiny new husband.

After that…well, it’s kind of up in the air. Writing Brynna took a lot out of me, and this last book took everything I had and then some. I’ve neglected many other things, including keeping up with my marketing research, and my sales have suffered across the board. So any project I get into will be a tepid dip into the water, and not one that I’m going to kill myself to try to finish before April.

Still, rattling around in my mind is the spin-off trilogy to Demon Spring, the half-finished Ragen Teon book, and some other ideas. Now that I know I’m supposed to be doing things a certain way, part of me wants to stay in the YA realm so I can capitalize on Brynna’s success. Including, perhaps, writing an Elisha-focused spin-off. But the rational part of my brain tells me to put Brynna down for a while. While I love her, writing her takes a lot of brainpower.

Either way, I’m marching forward into 2020 with the intention of keeping myself from going balls to the wall on anything. Life is much sweeter when I get to enjoy everything on my plate, instead of gorging myself on the mashed potatoes up front.

I hope everyone had a solid holiday season and is ready for the new year with a smile and lots of optimism!

Y’all, I am so excited to announce that The City of Veils was selected as the IAP YA Book of the Year for the State of Florida! Brynna’s first book was the easiest and most fun to write, and I’m so thrilled that everyone is loving it as much as I do.
