It’s the Spoopy Month, y’all!

This is the month when I let my Basic White Girl Flag Fly! I’m talking pumpkin, I’m talking hoodies, I’m talking 75 degrees instead of 90. It is one of my favorite months of the year, and I’m determined to not let 2020 take that from me.

In the writing world, thanks to a hurricane in September, I am about a week behind on Demon Fall, but I should be on track to finish the first and second drafts this month (a second draft is a read through+comment incorporation, so it takes infinitely less time), and outline the second and third books in advance of NaNoWriMo next month. I hope to get some major progress with the momentum of my writers’ group, maybe even getting through the whole book if I get ambitious (and my outline is thorough enough). That would put me in a good position for release times in 2021, which I won’t set until I’ve at least got a complete draft of Book 3.

I hope everyone has a spoopy month and has some good reads to enjoy!

The City of Veils – Florida Author Project YA Book of the Year

Y’all, I am so excited to announce that The City of Veils was selected as the IAP YA Book of the Year for the State of Florida! Brynna’s first book was the easiest and most fun to write, and I’m so thrilled that everyone is loving it as much as I do.

Her secret is the most valuable truth of all.

Fifteen-year-old Larissa is one of the best thieves in Celia’s camp. One night, she’s given her first solo mission – to steal a carriage full of jewels headed for the royal city of Forcadel. But when it goes south, and her arrow takes the life of one of the guards, she embarks on a mission to find repentance in the city of her birth.

She just hopes no one recognizes her as the lost princess.

The Runaway Princess is the prequel to The City of Veils, a YA epic fantasy series from S. Usher Evans, and winner of the 2019 Florida Author Project YA book of the year.
